Today, Habitat is one of the largest home builders in the world, operating in over 100 countries. A comprehensive history of Habitat is available at the Habitat International website.
Habitat for Humanity of Belmont County works in partnership with God and people everywhere, to develop communities with God’s people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended.
Habitat for Humanity makes a Difference!
- We have partnered with many families who were living in substandard housing. Now more of our neighbors enjoy a stable and secure home.
- Benefits of homeownership are enormous not only for the homeowners, but also for the entire community.
- Homeownership has been proven to raise children’s academic scores and reduce behavioral problems, improve attendance at school, work, reduce the rates of teen pregnancy.
- New homes revitalize neighborhoods and increase property value as well as reduce the strain on education, public health, social services, law enforcement, criminal justice, and welfare system.
